Job Description


Develops the engineering controls (radiological, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene), work procedures and supporting documents necessary for performing work on, testing of, or handling radioactive and/or nuclear material. Includes fuel development and irradiations testing, fleet support and radiochemistry facilities, facility and infrastructure maintenance in radiological areas including radiological support equipment (ventilation, machinery, piping and characterization), and decontamination and decommissioning activities. Provides engineering support as work is executed to ensure compliance with engineered work products, including any updates or changes needed for work execution procedures. Develops engineered drawings, sketches, containment design, ESH controls and lifting and handling diagrams to support unique and complex projects. May develop plans and reports and perform environmental characterization and investigation activities pursuant to local and federal regulatory programs.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill


Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.

Pay Range


$61,000 - $93,400 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
