We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.SummaryWe currently have a Chemical Engineering / Chemistry Intern position in the Mining & Manufacturing department of Simplot.-- This role will be focused on supporting the mining of phosphate ore and production of phosphate and ammonia based fertilizers from the Frontier Building in Pocatello, ID.-- This role is expected to be involved with the development of new products/processes and refinements of existing processes.-- The role will be tailored depending on if the successful applicant is working towards a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry degree.-- The position is a full-time internship starting 2025.-- The preference is for an internship lasting at least 7 months.--Key ResponsibilitiesDuties provide meaningful work experience and business knowledge to college students in pursuit of a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry degree.--- Performs routine aspects of chemical engineering / chemistry requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering / chemistry principles under close supervision--- May use computer-assisted software and equipment to perform engineering/chemistry tasks--- Assists with lab and pilot-scale testing and evaluation occurring both indoors and outdoors--- Collects and prepares data for evaluation.--- May assist in the coordination of projects from conception (feasibility) through final plan preparations--- Handles various administrative duties--- Provides support to staff members as needed--- May provide support for multiple facilities across the Mining & Manufacturing business unit located in California, Idaho, Neveda, Utah, and WyomingTypical Education--- Working toward a BS in Chemical Engineering or ChemistryRelevant Experience--- Strong attention to detail--- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment--- Able to keep up in a fast paced work environment--- Fluent in Microsoft Office products including Word and ExcelOther InformationEnrollment in an Academic Engineering program, from a nationally accredited educational facility/university. Candidate must be willing to learn process operation, and work in an industrial setting.
